Remixing tracks with my good pal Jord, and young Lottie being too good

So I actually got a track out sort of
Me and Jord at his home stag do, taken in the National Reserve (amazing STONES)

Me and the very talented music producer Jordan Miller get on very well, and that’s probably to the detriment of my musical output.

I’ve worked with Jord since the summer of 2022, when Jack Wade joined us in recording my track ‘Do You Think Of Me?’ in Motorhouse studios on Villiers Street.

We immediately bonded over a love of STONES, and went to Fitzy’s after our first studio session - Fitzy’s was nice at the time.

When Jord moved his studio into his house that’s when we were given free license for making music to become an EVENT. We had the time and space to contextualise each track with all sorts of sounds and visuals, and trade stories around the theme of each tune.

LOADS of stuff I’ve recorded with Jord is unreleased and will probably stay that way - not because it’s shit, but because I don’t need to release it. I loved writing and recording it so much, I’m done with it.

Lottie’s track

I really didn’t expect this to be one of the tracks we released. Jord is quite trusting of me so when I told him I had an idea for a dance remix of a Lottie tune he was happy to not charge me for the session just out of intrigue of where it might go.

For context, this was in February 2024 and Lottie had recently released her first EP in 2023, which she’s since scrubbed off the internet cos she reckons it sounds shit. I really liked it! Particularly the song Better of You which had also impressed me when I’d seen her perform live.

I used to produce The Local Music Show on Spark and we would play this track all the time, generally because Lottie didn’t release anything for ages until Rosie but was still doing all sorts. I loved the track!

The vocal on our remix is actually the vocal from younger Lottie, as that’s what we had at the time. Her vocal on the new version is actually a different cadence so wouldn’t have worked anyway for this remix.

The main piano part is an interpolation of the two great melodies she already had. The couplet of ‘spreading through your veins as we talk, I tell you I’m alright when I’m not’, is just that coveted and rare combination of a pronounced melody with a brilliant lyric to fit. Exactly how every chorus should end!

The genre, the sounds and textures in the track were defined by what I heard in Lottie’s melody and melancholy, so actually that was a unique studio experience given it was all about interpretation.

Good fun! It’s also padding out my numbers on streaming.

See you round the clubs

P.S. Here's the first ever session bounce of Do You Think Of Me from Motorhouse in 2022 with loads of little alter boy autotune on - I wanted to sound like Justin Bieber
