Why I haven't released solo music since 2024...

I'm currently in the tracking phase of making my new record GREEN and am really enjoying the process of bringing these tunes to life

For me the main joy of writing music is the actual writing phase - I love plucking something out of nowhere and turning it into something I can hang my hat on

I'm not particularly bothered if people hear the tune. I know it exists and that's enough for me

But then if it makes me happy, maybe it would make someone else happy as well

That's why I'm starting to post about and promote my music more than I have traditionally - I do owe it to myself to show everyone what I've been working on. Ultimately, every artist I enjoy has shared their stuff with the world

I've also been doing and enjoying other things - mainly other stuff in music! Highlights would be playing with Patrick Gosling, doing The Local Music Show on Spark, and being involved with Stockton Road Hit Squad

I've been criticised for spreading myself too thin in this respect but I think I'm just in the habit of doing what I enjoy, whatever that is at the time. I don't think that's a bad thing (until you burn out or don't release music for two years)

It's good to be back though, and better to do it on my terms having done it all several times before
